Our chef advocates will be providing live demonstrations at the supermarket across June and July.

Last year, r é n launched our locally sourced eggs from Yuen Long and now, we’re proud to announce that they’re available at FOOD PARC, AS Watson’s newly opened supermarket in Hopewell Mall.

After discussing the partnership with the group over Easter, the supermarket opened its doors on May 8, and r é n eggs were ready on the shelves for the grand opening. For the first two weeks, youth from our community supported the launch by introducing our eggs and our charitable mission to customers at our pop-up booth. We also received massive support from friends of r é n and others in our community, and we’d like to thank everyone who came and purchased our eggs over the past two months.

For the second phase of our collaboration with FOOD PARC, we have invited a number of our chef advocates to hold live demonstrations – assisted by our youths – using r é n eggs and other ingredients they can find within the supermarket. The first session kicked off on June 3 with The Mira’s executive pastry chef Smita Grosse coming in to create devilled eggs and an egg pudding, followed by a second session on June 17 with Baking Maniac’s owner Ankrish Gidwani making brownies. Over the course of July, we have four more demonstrations planned. On July 10, Clarence bar manager Frances Kwok will create a cocktail and mocktail using the eggs, followed by a session on July 17 with Patisserie Millefeuille’s chef-owner Lionel Bodros on pastries. Finally, we will have Foxglove head chef Wilson Leung coming in on July 27 and L’Envol’s culinary director Olivier Elzer on July 30 to create vanilla slices and French egg onion soup respectively.

“We’re very happy to be working with FOOD PARC to bring r é n eggs to more people and households,” says r é n founder Jo Soo Tang. “On top of supporting our local farms and reducing carbon emissions, by purchasing our eggs, you are also contributing to our efforts in nurturing and building a community for Hong Kong’s disadvantaged and underprivileged youths. As we continue our partnership with AS Watson, we have plans to expand our coverage to more supermarkets such as GREAT and Fusion, which will be significant steps in raising more awareness for r é n’s mission and spreading our message of being a good egg.”
